20 Questions to a Better Sense of Humor

Outcome Key

DGO -- Dark Gross Offbeat. This makes you a Fanboy/Fangirl.

You like the strange, the random and the slightly upsetting. You'd like Monty Python better if they were all Terry Gilliam. If it's got references to stuff you thought only you knew about, like Fletch Lives, "Wild Cartoon Kingdom" or the Filmation Ghostbusters, you are prepared to pee.

Your humor is wasted on people who aren't paying attention. Just smile and nod and save your best stuff for that female friend who knows what "Red Hot Riding Hood" is.

You irrationally enjoy game glitches and glitch gifs and the Rollerblading Raptor.

You might like almost anything like Harvey Birdman, Archer or Out There. You might really really like the "Oh... my GOD" impression of Debbie DuPree I do when I've had a coupla Yuenglings.

10 % are this type.

DGT -- Dark Gross Traditional. This makes you a Prankster.

Comedy for you is when a person is kept in the most discomfort for the longest period of time. This means practical jokes, pranks, and sticking a hair up a sleeping person's nose so he slaps himself awake.

You are probably locked in some terrifying practical joke one-ups-manship with a like-minded soul. You are also probably a dude.

You are able to acknowledge that "Dumb and Dumber" is an American classic, and that makes you a good person.

You might like the Hangover movies, Jackass, Louis CK and that part in Bruce Campbell's "If Chins Could Kill" where he convinces a friend that his car has been shoved off a cliff. I'm not describing this adequately. You got to read it.

10 % are this type.

DYO -- Dark Dry Offbeat. This makes you a Neurotic.

You are acerbic, cynical and can smile while you're tearing someone apart. You efface others as you would be effaced yourself, and no topic is taboo -- fetal alcohol syndrome, the Challenger explosion -- nothing. You like characters as quirky and upsetting as yourself. You are Dorothy Parker minus the Ayn Rand aesthetic.

You would watch "The Day After" and heckle the fashion.

You might like Seinfeld a little and Curb Your Enthusiasm a lot, plus anything Michael Ian Black is doing (Viva Variety, The State, flossing).

5 % are this type.

DYT -- Dark Dry Traditional. This makes you a Cynic.

You're a realist. You'll take the piss out of anything, and do it with style and a skinny gray tie. You find humor in the mundane. Steven Wright is your patron saint.

You bring humor with you, and can flip over any situation to find the tender funny underbelly.

Incidentally, you're better equipped than anyone else to shake off the bad things happen to you. Mysterious lump? You've seen scarier lumps in your garlic cheesey grits. It seems like nothing makes you truly happy, but nothing really upsets you, either.

You might still watch David Letterman and The Simpsons, and be pining for Conan's "Pierre Bernard's Recliner of Rage."

8 % are this type.

SGO -- Sunny Gross Offbeat. This makes you a Wild One.

You have a laid-back approach to life, and your humor reflects that. What you think is funny is so broad and appealing that you can get a chuckle out of almost anybody. You're never offensive -- until you want to be.

It takes someone a while to get to know you and appreciate your point-of-view, but when you make friends they tend to be for life. You're the type of person who doesn't lose touch with friends after you get married. Rare. Rarely rare rare.

You found Your Highness underrated. You can't wait for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2. You wish movie critics weren't so hard on comedy. But mostly your favorite jokes are the ones you made up with your friends.

12 % are this type.

SGT -- Sunny Gross Traditional. This makes you a John Hughes.

Your sense of humor makes you the ultimate every-person. You trouble nobody. You're laid back. Like la-a-a-aid back. You might be from the Midwest.

You enjoy the occasional weird or dark humor, and the right joke out of nowhere can make you laugh out loud. In fact, the funniest stuff for you is the stuff that takes you off guard. If you can see it coming, you don't want to see it arrive.

You might enjoy Mitch Hedberg, Brian Regan and anything Tina Fey is doing. Have you read "Bossypants"? You would like "Bossypants".

19 % are this type.

SYO -- Sunny Dry Offbeat. This makes you a Sly Boots.

You come off so nice and sweet that people don't think you'll be funny (can a truly nice person be funny?), and then SHA-POW you're pouring the Beringer and doing dead-on impressions of the people you work with.

If there isn't one of your type at a party, then I don't want to go.

You would never use humor to hurt somebody. You start slow and finish big, sometimes dropping little humor bombs no one gets until later. You know how people are always like, "Hey, you should invite so-and-so." You're so-and-so.

You might like Mystery Science Theater 3000, A Fish Called Wanda, Adventure Time, Portlandia and basically everything that's good.

8 % are this type.

SYT -- Sunny Dry Traditional. This makes you a Sophisticate.

You like conservative humor -- implied rather than explicit, well-timed eyebrow rather than punchline. You're exactly the right kind of funny a well-bred hostess would want at her functions.

You're not afraid of a risque joke -- you just don't often make them. This means that people may keep it squeaky clean around you, and that when you do go blue it's SUPER funny.

You might like The Colbert Report, William Powell movies and Remember WENN.
